On that occasion, what surprised fans was that the name of our country was mentioned, since the director and part of the cast shared that the movie would be filmed in Peru.

First images of Transformers 7 filmed in Cusco

As the months have passed, the arrival of the first groups of the filming, as well as the cast, have been seen in the country, specifically in Cusco, one of the cities chosen for the filming.

What will Transformers 7: Beasts Reborn be about?

The movie will take us back to the 90’s, where the Maximals, along with Predacons and Terrorcons, will join a battle. This will prove to be quite an interesting development for the saga, as we are used to fights between Decepticons and Autobots.

What characters will we see in Transformers: Rise of the beast?

With Rise of the beast coming as an adaptation of 1994’s Beast Wars, the film will feature Maximals, Predacons and even Terrorcons. However, the main character will still be Optimus Prime, voiced by Peter Cullen.

The cast will be joined by Bumblebee, this time with an all-terrain Camaro. Mirage will join the Autobots, transforming into a Porsche 911 and Arcee as a Ducati. Nightbird also joins the group as a Nissan GTR. Scourge, Airazor, Rhinox and Optimus Primal were mentioned.

“The Predacons in this movie are more reptilian in nature. We’ve seen them in other films in the Transformers saga, but here we’ll present a fresh side for the viewer,” Caple explained.

Producers of the Transformers saga excited about filming in Machu Picchu

During a virtual exhibition held in mid-June, director Steven Caple Jr. was pleased with the choice of Machu Picchu for the filming of the new Transformers feature film. The filmmaker indicated that it will be a “privilege” to film in the imperial citadel and that the goal is to evoke a spiritual connection with ancient civilizations.

“As a filmmaker, I find it truly inspiring to immerse our film in Peruvian culture, this time we will have the opportunity to film in Cusco, located high and deep in the Andes Mountains, where it is possible to find traces of a sophisticated Inca civilization that survived in time and continues to live in the communities of Cusco,” he said.

Ron Perlman to play Optimus Primal in Transformers: Rise of the Beasts

According to the specialized portal Screenrant, Ron Perlman, known for his work in Hellboy, will lend his voice to Optimus Primal, a role he had already played in the television series Transformers: power of the primes.

On the other hand, it has been revealed that Michael Bay, who directed previous live-action installments of the saga, will be the producer, through his company Bay Films, together with Tom DeSanto, Don Murphy, Lorenzo di Bonaventura, Mark Vahradian and Duncan Henderson.

There will be no robots in Machu Picchu

The head of the Machu Picchu National Archaeological Park, José Bastante Abuhadba, assured that the authorities will be strict with the recording equipment that can enter the mythical Inca city in order to avoid damage to the heritage.

“Let it be clear that none of the robots will enter Machu Picchu, not even a robot’s hand”, he assured Andina media, after detailing that in the citadel “only the two main actors will be filmed while the rest will be a virtual recreation of the robots”.

The locations for the film

Paramount Pictures confirmed that the locations where the scenes will be filmed in Peru are the regions of Cusco and San Martin. In addition, it is known that during the film, major tourist sites will be seen, such as the Main Square of Cusco and Machu Picchu.

Likewise, the production team has already been seen traveling to Ollantaytambo and Machu Picchu. In the latter place, the filming of the corresponding scenes with the actors will take place.

How did Peru react to the production on Peruvian soil?

The Commission for the Promotion of Peru for Exports and Tourism (Promperu) celebrated through a statement on its social networks the good news.

“PERU, a film destination that captivates the world! Paramount Pictures confirmed that our country will be one of the filming locations of the new movie of the Transformers saga. A great step for the positioning of Peru as a film location and the #ReactivationTourism!”, reads the official Facebook.
