While traveling and discovering new spots in Lima you may need to use one of our mobile phone plans for tourists to have a tourist SIM card. In order to understand and find new adventures, here in PeruSIM. The following is a list of the 5 best full day tours near Lima.

Chancay

Chancay is one of the best options for a full day. Not only for its proximity to Lima, but for the variety of activities you can do there. This city is located only 78 kilometers from Lima. To get there, you can take several bus companies such as Cinco Tours or Transporte Poseidón. You can find tickets from 12 soles.

In Chancay, we recommend that you take a stroll through the Plaza de Armas, where you can see a cannon and chains that belonged to the Chilean Covadonga, which was defeated by Chancayans in the War of the Pacific. We also recommend that you visit the Eco Truly Park, which is located on the beach of Chacra. This land belongs to the Krishna community and is made up of Trulys, orchards and vegetable gardens. There you can hold small workshops and stay in the trulys.

However, the attraction par excellence in Chancay is the Chancay Castle. This medieval-style site dates from the 1920s and 1930s. It was created by a lady born in Lima at the end of the 19th century, who was the great-granddaughter of Viceroy Manuel Amat y Juniet. Currently, it houses, in addition to several original furnishings and spaces, a swimming pool, a restaurant area and stores.

Barranca

In this destination, you can choose to relax in some of its beaches. Among the most recommended are Chorillos, Miraflores, Puerto Chico, El Colorado, Bandurria and Atarraya. Each one of them has particularities that make them unique.

The Caral Citadel, however, is a destination you cannot miss if you go on a full day in Barranca. With approximately 5000 years of antiquity, this building is the oldest in Peru and America, which compares it with societies such as Mesopotamia, Egypt and China.

On the way you can also visit the Christ the Redeemer, a sculpture of more than 20 meters that is located in the Cerro Colorado. From there, you can also have a beautiful view of the beaches of the place. Finally, we recommend visiting the Paramonga Fortress, an adobe construction of Chimú origin.

Barranca

Chincha is another perfect city to visit in a full day. Located only 200 kilometers south of Lima, here you can visit several wineries and vineyards, such as Viña de Oro, Bodegas Tabernero, Bodega Grimaldi, Castellano, Naldo Navarro, El Paraíso, San Cristóbal, Arenas, Villa Julia and Chumbiauca.

Besides being able to take a route through its main wineries and vineyards to taste pisco and handmade wines, you can visit very interesting tourist attractions. Thus, 25 kilometers from Chincha is the Casa Hacienda San José, located in El Carmen. This colonial-style building was built in the seventeenth century.

The Melchorita Sanctuary is also located 5 kilometers from Chincha Alta. There is the town of Grocio Prado, where Melchora Saravia was born. This character is important for the people of Chincha because of her great devotion to helping the poor and the sick. This house has become, nowadays, a center of sanctity.

Puerto Supe

Puerto Supe is located 188 kilometers from Lima and is a perfect place for a full day of beach and history. If you want to get to this city, you have to take a bus to Barranca. From there, it will only take you 11 minutes to get to Puerto Supe.

One of the best beaches that Puerto Supe has is La Isla beach, which is also known as Pharaoh’s Island. Besides having an incomparable natural beauty, it is known for having a pyramid-shaped sand hill that divides the beach into two areas. The north side, which comprises the less frequented area and the south side, which comprises the preferred area for bathers. This is because the sea is very calm and the waves are small.

Besides having this fabulous beach, you can visit Áspero, an archaeological site dating from the late archaic period (from 3000 to 1800 B.C.). This site is related to the ancient city of Caral. According to research, Aspero operated as the fishing center of Caral. The main structures that comprise this archaeological space are the temples or huacas Huaca Alta, Huaca de los Idolos and Huaca de los Sacrificios. In this last huaca, remains of human sacrifices have been found in recent decades.

Pisco

If you like to relax and have fun at the beach, La Mina is the best option. It is characterized by its crystalline waters and almost white sand. Besides this beach, you can visit Paracas Bay, Supay Beach, Atenas and El Chaco.

If, on the other hand, you are more into history and want to know more about the ancient settlers that inhabited Pisco, you have to visit Tambo Colorado, so called because of the red paint that covered its walls. It is located 45 kilometers from Pisco and is one of the most important archeological sites in Pisco.

However, the most striking attraction of this city is the Moron Lagoon, which has an exceptional beauty. To get to this paradise you have to cross, first, several farms of yellow corn and cotton. You will see that they are surrounded by dunes and desert landscapes. On the way you can visit La Poza Lagoon, where you can refresh yourself. The Morón Lagoon will welcome you as soon as you see its blue-green waters.

Finally, we know that you have to keep communication with your relatives and friends, that you need to be able to orient yourself in new cities, that you might need help with translation and that you might need to search for restaurants or hotels. That’s why with PeruSIM you can buy a SIM card including the data plan of your need without having to worry about high roaming costs.
